My first self-published novel was initially supposed to be a testimony to the wonderful and generous women I met in Saudi Arabia. It then morphed into a semi-autobiographic novel to protect the trust these women had put in me. But the essence of what I experienced is there: the hospitality in this arid land. The desert adventures. The beauty of Arabic calligraphy. The delicious ma’moul. Oud music…and the friendships I will cherish forever.
Four years later, The Polar Bear and the Palm Tree is still going strong (and has now three brothers-novels and one sister-screenplay).
